A caretaker election commissioner warned on Saturday that the selection process of new poll agency members could be at risk due to rigid qualifications required from the selection panel members. Mr Somchai said one of the appointees served as an adviser to a former agriculture minister in the past 10 years and may not be qualified to sit on the selection panel. "I'm not trying to spoil the soup but I am pointing out a flaw concerning qualifications of the selection committee members. Mr Somchai has been critical of the qualifications of the selection committee out of concerns that there might not be anyone who meets the criteria. After the 90-day selection process, the names of candidates shortlisted by the selection panel must be submitted to the NLA for approval.
